Ok, yes I may be a drummer of 30 years, but in recent years, mainly due to the COVID pandemic, I started to dabble in DJ mixing and production. Twitch DJs were a popular past time of mine, as one of my friends grew his fan base on the platform during the same time.

This prompted me to purchase a beginner Pioneer deck, an AKAI MIDI controller, Ableton, and do some hunting for the most popular audio packs used in the high-energy world of trance.

Also during this time, I came across some helpful YouTube channels that I would like to share. I’ve also sprinkled in some channels recommended by other (read “more advanced”) DJs farther along in their career.

My hope is that by compiling this list of what I feel are the best YouTube channels for music producers who are just starting out, I can help you in your early days as well. I’ve also covered some beginner DJ books as well (if you are planning to dabble in performance DJing in conjunction with production)

Let’s go!
