Madison, What If You Had a Home Base for Your Music Career?

Explore the concept of Eleven’s Madison Music Center – a physical resource space designed specifically for independent musicians in Madison and an online resource for the general public.

We’re testing an idea: a dedicated space where musicians can work, collaborate, learn, and grow together. This page shares the concept. Your feedback helps us decide if (and how) to build it.

The Vision for the Madison Music Center

A Home Base for Your Music

Right now, independent musicians in Madison operate in isolation. You work from home, book rehearsals at different venues, and rarely cross paths with other artists building sustainable careers.

What if there was a place where:

  • You could have dedicated workspace to create, collaborate, and work on the business side of your music
  • You could take coaching calls in a professional environment
  • You’d bump into other musicians pursuing similar goals and build real relationships
  • You could host intimate events, workshops, and fan experiences
  • You’d have access to business templates, instruments, recording gear, and other tools you might not own

That’s the concept we’re exploring. Not a studio. Not a venue. A working space built specifically for independent musicians: where the community, the coaching, and the creative work all live in one place.

Madison Music Center Core Offerings (Concept)

Here’s what the space might include, based on feedback from Madison musicians

Coaching Space + Onsite Coach/Mentor

Space available for 1-on-1 coaching sessions, lessons, or client calls. You need a professional space, we provide it.

Co-Working Community Membership

More than workspace: community. Regular member events, resource library, band promotion, performance slots, peer accountability, and regular networking with other musicians.

Workshop & Event Space

Host monthly workshops on music business topics, intimate artist showcases, fan events, or collaboration sessions. Space for the music community to gather.

Resource Library

Access to business templates, industry contacts, local discounts, instruments and gear you might not own. Borrow or access for practice, demos, or events. Reduces barriers to experimentation and execution.

Industry Networking Events

Quarterly events bringing together musicians, venues, promoters, and industry folks. Build the relationships that matter for your career.

Who Would Use This Space?

We imagine different musicians using it in different ways

The Solo Artist

Recording & Building

A singer-songwriter working on an EP. Uses the studio space to create, takes coaching calls here, and meets other musicians for collaboration.

The Producer

Collaborating & Producing

A beat producer collaborating with rappers and singers. Uses the space to produce, meet clients, and network with other producers.

The Band

Rehearsing & Planning

A 3-piece band rehearsing and working on their music business. Uses the space to plan strategy, brainstorm content, and host fan events.

The Teacher

Lessons & Coaching

An instructor teaching 10+ students per month. Uses space for lessons, hosts group workshops, mentors students and peers, and builds client relationships.

Frequently Asked Questions (About the Concept)

Is this a recording studio?

No. It’s a working space for musicians. There will be instruments and basic recording capability, but we’re not positioning as a commercial studio competing with established studios in Madison.

When would the space be open?

Concept: Ideally 20+ hours/week during creative hours (weekday afternoons/evenings). We’d start limited and expand based on demand.

How much would membership cost?

Concept: Estimated $99–$199/month for co-working membership (with workspace access). Specific pricing depends on location, amenities, and operating costs.

Where would the space be located?

Concept: We’re exploring locations in or near Madison with good visibility and traffic from the music community. We are currently considering a space on Sherman Ave.

What if I don’t want to be part of a community?

Concept: You can use the space individually, possibly with day rates. Community events are optional. Some members will come for the workspace; others primarily for coaching or events.

Is this happening soon?

Possibly. We’re testing interest first. If enough musicians say “yes, I’d use that,” we’ll build a real business plan and timeline. You’re helping us validate the idea.
